Old Testament Foundations Course

This class will cover the history and literature of the Old Testament so people can better understand and teach the Old Testament books. I'm excited about this class, and I hope that you will be able to make plans to be a part of it. We will meet approximately every other Monday in Room 224 of Chapelgate beginning Feb.16th from 7:00-10:00pm. If you have any questions, please contact Scott Simmons at the church. Registration forms can be picked up in the information booth.

Class 1: Introduction. The nature of Biblical history. Literary/historical approach to the OT. Case study on Gen. 1-2.

Class 2: Pentateuch. We will cover the five books of Moses with a view towards helping people understand it's historical setting and literary style.

Class 3: Historical Books.
We will look at each of the historical books with a view towards understanding their literary purpose and theological themes.

Class 4-5: Poetic Books. We will focus a lot of time on how Hebrew poetry works, and then look individually at the poetic books of the OT.

Class 6-7: Prophetic Books. We will focus on the nature of prophecy and then look at the prophetic books. We will not have time to look at them individually in depth. We will summarize them all (historical setting, etc), and cover a few in detail.

The cost is $150 for audit and $450 for credit.
